Korpen, a company specialising in the organisation of sports tournaments, recently made an inspection visit to Lloret de Mar, arranged through the Lloret Convention Bureau, to find out about the destination’s MICE and sports tourism offering. Thirty Korpen staff members travelled to Lloret to explore its sports facilities, specialised nearby accommodation for visitors taking part in events and meetings, restaurants with a large capacity for holding gala dinners, and other special venues in the town.
Following the inspection visit, Korpen has confirmed an initial event from 1 to 5 May 2016 with 550 participants from Sweden, with a view to increasing its activity in Lloret de Mar in the near future.
This year, the Lloret Convention Bureau is focusing strongly on the positioning of Lloret as a MICE & Sports destination. It has detected strong demand for such services in Scandinavian countries, where the proximity of facilities, good value for money and climate of Lloret de Mar are highly valued for both MICE and sports events.
Meanwhile, the Olympic Auditorium and Conference Centre hosted the 3rd Scientific Days for Advanced Health Care Technicians last weekend. The event was attended by some 200 delegates and focused on the diagnosis and research of rare diseases. The Professional Association of Advanced Health Care Technicians of Catalonia(FETESS) has returned to Lloret de Mar for this event, having chosen the town to host its inaugural scientific days in 2013.
