The event, held from 2 to 4 October, featured a full programme of talks, video projections, workshops, exhibitions and activities related to nature, mountains and conservation
From 2 to 4 October, Lloret de Mar once again hosted the Montphoto FEST, one of Europe’s leading nature photography festivals. This year, an impressive roster of internationally renowned speakers in the field of nature photography included Francisco Márquez, David Maitland, Jonathan Lhoir, Ángel Fitor, Helen Gilks, Bence Máté, Fernando Puche, Jordi Saragossa, Andrés Miguel Domínguez, Andrés Magai and José Ángel Izquierdo.
Over 800 registered participants enjoyed a wide-ranging programme of talks, video projections, workshops and exhibitions. There was also an area for exhibitors where the latest photographic material and equipment was on display.
For the first time, the festival included a youth days programme for the under 25s with the goal of introducing them to nature photography. The programme was split into two age groups: children from 10 to 14 years old and young people from 15 to 25 years old. What’s more, students of the arts baccalaureate course at the Coll i Rodés Secondary School participated in the programme and collaborated in its organisation.
As in previous years, the Inspired by Nature publication was officially unveiled at the event, featuring this year’s award-winning photographs.
Over 6,600 photographs from 50 countries were submitted to the 19th Montphoto contest. The photographs that made the final selection can be viewed at the Montphoto 2015 exhibition at the Casa de Cultura in Lloret de Mar until 31 October.
